It’s not as though there’s a shortage of stuff to blog here. In fact, far from it. But now that season one is a distant memory, is there anything from those first 26 shorts you’d like to see? Things we may’ve missed? I’m pretty sure we’ve covered just about everything we could (animatic clips, boards, title cards, character and background designs, etc), but you never know.

It’s tough to fathom, but season one of Adventure Time is history. Last night’s “Gut Grinder” was the final debut of this first batch of 26 eleven-minute episodes. So, assuming you’ve seen at least a good chunk of them, what did you think? Favorite episodes? Disappointed with anything? Characters you want to see more of? Less? Who would like Finn & Jake to deal with real life problems like the ones you face every day? And who would like to see them do just the opposite, getting into far-out situations involving robots and magic powers?
Here’s an episode re-cap, sorted by their half-hour pairings.
Slumber Party Panic
Trouble in Lumpy Space
The Enchiridion!
The Jiggler
Prisoners of Love
Tree Trunks
Ricardio the Heart Guy
Business Time
My Two Favorite People
Memories of Boom Boom Mountain
Wizard
Evicted!
City of Thieves
The Witch’s Garden
What is Life?
Ocean of Fear
When Wedding Bells Thaw
Freak City
The Duke
Donny
Henchman
Dungeon
What Have You Done?
Rainy Day Daydream
Gut Grinder
His Hero

I can only guess Cartoon Network is fearful you’ll switch to another channel during a commercial break between Adventure Time and Regular Show on Monday nights. As you’ve seen, the network’s unfortunate solution is to jam a few minutes of ads into a single short Adventure Time cartoon. We don’t know how long this will go on; hopefully soon good Regular Show ratings will convince CN there’s little danger of your flipping stations allowing them to stop cheesing off the viewers of its highest-rated show.
In any event, we’re told the repeats of “What Have You Done?” this week will not be interrupted. Here are this week’s replays (thanks to chdr over at ToonZone):
Tuesday at 11:30 a.m.
Thursday at 9:00 p.m.
Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
Sunday at 5:30 p.m.

Yeah, so you thought this day would never arrive (we sure didn’t). However, with Friday’s delivery of “Gut Grinder” and “His Hero,” production on the first season of Adventure Time is officially finished. Further, believe it or don’t, the writing on season No. 2 has just wrapped up, too, with about only eight more storyboards left to complete out of this second batch of twenty-six cartoons. Keep your fingers and toes crossed we’ll soon get word on a third season.

Here’s a note from Pen: “I’m going to stream live on www.stickam.com/buenothebear on Monday at 8PM PST - drawing requests for anyone who shows up in the chat room. I’m doing this to make up for the re-run of Adventure Time that’s airing on Monday.”
That’s tonight, July 5, at 8:00 p.m., west coast time.

I’m sure many of you have seen this epic piece of fan art before, but I thought it should be featured again. Created by Douglas Harvey (a.k.a Lysol Jones), it has been floating around the internet since the original pilot came out, and in my eyes considered one of the first and unique Adventure Time fan art pieces. It inspired me to create my own tribute and to pursue the Autumn Society tributes you’ve seen here on Frederator. Check out more of Douglas’ work here lysol-Jones.deviantart.com and here brograbs.dapshow.com.
