Bronk and Bongo Barkstory
![]()
Manny and Alan did this piece for the pitch book we never got to pitch — we already had the script and storyboard. (And then there’s Frederator’s anti-pitchbook policy.) Keen-eyed fans will notice that Bronk (the little red guy) was originally more sweet-faced in this early version, which evolved as his attitude became less goofy. And Bongo (the bigger, other guy) grew a longer snoot after this was drawn. They still share a set of clothes between them — Bronk gets the vest, Bongo the trousers. Bloggingly yours, Manny and Alan.

I love the letter!! Is this cartoon being flash animated?? Love the characters!

Hey, Stephen, you really eat, sleep and drink this BLOG don’t you? To answer your question, this cartoon will be animated solely in the corner of notebooks by Apalachian Pigmies. Actually, we were going the FLASH route until I discovered that there still are places that do traditional animation! Fancy that! I work predominantly in FLASH myself and that is why when you look at this earlier art that the character seem built to exploit FLASH with their clean shapes and segmented sections. Thanks for posting….

Hey alright. Congrats Manny and Alan. I can’t believe it’s taken you this long to get a cartoon Manny. Are you slackin’ or what?

This is simply adorable artwork! It has such a Nickelodeon aesthetic. I definitley cannot wait to see this on tv, to have a new and exciting cartoon about DOGS (which I absolutley love!). Good luck with all your endeavors! When and where can I get Bronk products???

Hopefully in 2 years you will be able to go to the local store and have to deal with the internal struggle of whether or not to buy the Bronk and Bongo stuffed animal sports bra or the Bronk and Bongo hemorrhoid cream and pillow combo.
Ahhh…..god willing!

Brilliant! Hope to see MUCH more of this very soon.

I LOVE IT! Who wrote that letter and who will be writing for the show? Jeez, it’s clearly going to be very funny! Also, a very clever way to pitch. Your characters, as usual, are very iconic looking, they have great expressions too. I can totally see them on a tube of hemorrhoid cream.

Alan Goodman wrote that letter for Jerry Generic, Bronk and Bongo’s redundant boss. Alan and I came up with the plot and gags together and he expertly wove a story out iof it all. And Lisa, I love that you read all the posts, either that or you really want Bronk and Bongo hemorrhoid cream. ew….
