Bronk & Bongo? Or Boned?!
![]()
Sample art of our two heros (with boss Jerry Generic as a hospital administrator) shows Bronk before he grew an attitude. But in looking at this over the weekend, we remembered that for a while we were calling this “Boned,” starring Bronk & Bongo. These days we kinda just say Bronk & Bongo. The old title used to refer to the plight of this hapless, unemployable duo. The way the story evolved, it probably describes better any dunce who accidentally hires them. But the question we ask is: Bronk & Bongo? Or Boned? Which do you prefer? Not that the vote is binding, mind you. This ain’t American Idol. Bloggingly yours, Manny and Alan

I was thinking of casting my vote for a title, but I don’t have much luck with voting. No one I’ve ever voted for has been elected. I think, as a courtesy to you guys, it’s better if I abstain. You’ll thank me someday.

Humm, Boned, or BONED! As that gorgeous title card seems to be yelling, is nice and tight. A succinct idea, a summary of the show if you will. While BRONK and BONGO flow off the tongue. Tough call. I feel like, for a short, Bronk and BONGO is perfect to introduce us to character, but for a series BONED! would be awesome. Looks nicer on a hat too.

By the way I’m not that JOHN DAVIS, the creator of JIMMY NEUTRON, pure co-incidence. I prefer BONED! It’s much better than the original title RED-DOG, BLUE-DOG, HUNGRY and JOBLESS. It flows of the tongue better.

I agree with Rebecca. B&B is perfect for the pilot, but BONED! is the series name.

Beautiful artwork!
On February 6th, 2006 at 12:00 am
It is nice artwork at that, but it doesn’t answer the perilous dillema wrought before us? IS Boned! too Risky? Will parents tune in late at night expecting something else like I did when I saw 2 Angry Beavers listed in the tv guide? I’m with Rebecca though…nice intro then series title….

I vote for, oh…uh…BONED!, It’s funny and as mentioned above, descibes everyones plight.

Hmmm… I feel so dirty, blogging, talking about ‘Boned’, but somehow I dig it. Crazy but I do. Great artwork so far, interesting ideas. Obviously the best name is Boned, hands down winner. Everyone remembers it, it has other connotations. What’s to discuss? Next piece of art please and give me more ‘Boned featuring Bronk and Bongo’.

I vote for Bronk & Bongo as the series name. Boned IS too risky and has too many other connotations. Plus, Bronk & Bongo has a nice ring to it and also it drives home the idea that these guys are a team.

YEa-Y!
how about BBBoned!!!!
On February 6th, 2006 at 12:00 am
BONED! It just commands more attention!
On February 6th, 2006 at 12:00 am
Let me see…Batman and Robin, Tom and Jerry, even Two Stupid Dogs. All of the great duos have their names in the title. I don’t think that one word can accurately describe these heroes, and so my vote is for Bronk and Bongo. I don’t know…I guess I also just like it more…

How about: Ladies and Gentlemen, we now present Bronk and Bongo in 2 Angry Beavers? Nice ring 2 it. Could be huge.

I’m actually a big fan of single word titles.
Design-wise, it’s clean and snazzy.
Having said that, calling it BONED is risky business.
You don’t want that heat.
Bronk and Bongo for the win, chief.
Do it.
Don’t make me tell you twice.

I would choose Bronk & Bongo for sure. It sounds like a classic cartoon, whereas Boned sounds like short-lived slang.
Bronk & Bongo takes a minute to get used to saying out loud but after you say it a few times it’s not such a tongue twister. I can see kids shortening it to B&B as well -nice.

im all for BRONK & BONGO…kinda rolls off your tongue like bucking bronco or benny blanco…hahaha. The art is off the hook.
On February 7th, 2006 at 12:00 am
Bronk and Bongo for sure. Stay away from Boned. Don’t think the public will go for that. Concept looks damn good so far too.
On February 7th, 2006 at 12:00 am
I like the BONED! because it steps away from the confusion of other cartoons that have a duo but….in Canada (and parts of the US I would suspect) boned only means one thing and it is quick, careless sexual intercourse..how many people will think of this? Will it help or hurt? Will parents have to explain to the six year old why the twelve year old falls into fits of giggles everytime the show comes on? Does this matter?

My vote is Bronk & Bongo!

Like great buddy shows of days gone by, Tom and Jerry, Laurel and Hardey, Bush and Chaney, it’s all in the name. I like BONED! But I like BRONK and BONGO even better.

My vote is Bronk and Bongo! Boned is catchy but too risky! Classic is back in and Bronk and Bongo sounds fun!! Awesome!
On February 8th, 2006 at 12:00 am
Boned! Imagine the watercooler conversations “DID you see Boned! last night?” It’s a title that would certainly have people questioning “What is this?” It’s edgy but not too edgy. Quite frankly the first thing I’d think of is “Oh it’s a cartoon about dogs.” There is a new show on FOX right now called BONES, with no exclaimation point and it stars David Boreanez so you might want to avoid it for that reason, but it probably won’t last too long so you might be in the clear. HA!

Bronk and Bongo. Yeah, definitely Bronk and Bongo.
“Boned” brings back 4th grade gym class memories for me that I don’t want to talk about…

Hey guys! I’d have to say Bronk n Bongo for my vote…and i love the style for the bgs so far! The yellow is looking great
On February 14th, 2006 at 12:00 am
Thanks Anne. I’m not the best person when it comes to color, but something about this project seems to be kind of dictating it’s look to me almost subliminally. It’s just feeling right. Typically I don’t like Yellow BG’s, or anything too primary really but in this case I think it works because it’s a little richer and deeper than just yellow and it’s a little grainy too.

What about Joanie Loves Chachi?
Oh wait…that’s taken already.
