Bronk & Bongo

In the Booth

June 13th, 2006

Well the time to record was finally upon us. Last Thursday Alan and I and the 3 lead actors and our ancillary fourth VO actor JEFF BENNETT all arrived at the sound studio for the Bronk and Bongo record. We were then joined by Meredith, Eric Homan, Gary Conrad, Larry Huber, Therese Trujillo, Jack Kinman, big Petey, little Petey, meaty Petey, re-Petey and Joey Bag of Donuts and the kitchen sink. It was like the VIACOM holiday party in there. People everywhere I looked, filling out paper work, signing contracts, exchanging hellos, reading scripts and smelling candles. Thanks again Steve!

I was as excited as a little school girl and I wore the catholic school out fit to prove it. I have never been a part of a session where all the players were in the booth at the same time, actually interacting with each other and negotiating each other’s performance.

It was a dynamic vocal ballet. Each player building on the last performance adding far more than what was in the script and blazing through the whole session in half the time allotted for it.

This was my first experience working on something at this level with this level of talent, thank goodness Alan is more of a seasoned professional and kept things moving and on track. Everyone’s performance was brilliant! Thanks for polishing our tur….um….enhancing our excellence!

Sounds like it was great fun. The audio movie is interesting and odd to hear the character voices with no characters.

Very exciting. Another step closer to a real cartoon.

Awsome video, looks like great fun! Voices sound alittle familiar to me. I think Ive heard these guys in some sort of looney toons cartoon before.. Btw, how come wheat they were saying didnt make sense and words were just like randomly said off the script? -Steve http://www.stephenstudios.com

Hey Stephen, I agree with you, it’s hard to follow our cartoon without a visual. And the scary thing is if you heard the whole cartoon, it gets more and more difficult to understand. It becomes more and more random dialogue that only works with the visual.

Than I cant wait to see how this all comes together to make sense!

Very cool guys! Fun to hear the voices! I have to say, I actually disagree with Stephen as I don’t recongnize any of the voices as too familiar. They feel unique to me. It does have a Marx Bros. vibe which is I think your intent. Just my opinion. Can’t wait to see it finished film.

We were actually going for Abbott and Costello, but you really can’t tell from the perfomance. It’s more about the relationship. And Adam at times sounded just like Gene Wilder. It’s made us reconsider how we treat the character.

Fun! I can’t wait to see the characters with the voices.

You must be so excited!! It’s finally coming to life!!

“To the Stairs” bwahahahaha.

DId you take any video of the characters actually doing the voices? I hear it, but watching these crazy great cartoon voices coming from them would be even better!

I couldn’t get into the actual booth with them while they were recording and I was too far from the glass to be able to get a better movie. I needed to stay near Alan as we were both co-directing the performances. Well, Alan was voice directing and I was picking mites of of him and eating them.

ALL RIGHT!!!!!!!! Can’t wait to see more. This is going to be the best show ever!!!!!

the humans look so annimated! VERY cool…. its nice to see all the phases of this process. The blog is very “educational”. Thanks for always posting!
