Da Vinci Animated
The V&A Museum in the UK is hosting an extensive exhibition on Leonardo Da Vinci. The exhibit examines the unique way that Da Vinci thought on paper.
With the help of Cosgrove Hall Films Ltd. they’ve actually managed to animate Da Vinci’s drawings. Their website says: “The animations have been made using various techniques: a combination of traditional drawn animations and computer-generated animations. The biggest task was to bring those two together, and try as far as possible to emulate the drawings in Leonardo’s sketchbooks.”
While I’m very far from the exhibit itself, you can check out the Da Vinci exhibit website where they’ve compiled a fairly fascinating amount of information. You can check out the animations, specifically, here.

dude - some of that is amazing - i wouldn’t want to be faced with working interpreting that man’s drawings for the sake of motion and i think that they did about as good a job as can be. the less they stay away from digital augmentation of a single graphic and depend on new drawings the better the effect will be
