Happy 50th birthday, John Lasseter

January 12th, 2007

This day in 1957, Academy Award-winning director-writer-producer John Lasseter (of Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story films) is born in Hollywood, California. He will work at Disneyland as a Jungle Cruise skipper before starting his career in animation.

Seen as the whiz who will reanimate Disney, John Lasseter not only has a love for classic Disney animation, but also great afection for the films of Hayao Miyazaki.

Here is a video from the day Miyazaki visited the Pixar Studio.

Mr Lasseter has acted as Executive Producer on several of Miyazaki’s films here in the USA.

With his recent promotion of sorts to being both chief creative officer of Pixar and Disney Animation Studios, and principal creative advisor of Walt Disney Imagineering, John Lasseter’s creative plate is quite full. As he now oversees all Pixar and Disney films and associated projects, Mr Lasseter is poised to do great things in animation as he steers these two studios into the future. I’m anxious to see what he and his teams come up with.

In other birthday news, it’s also my mother’s birthday today. Happy 61st, Mommy!

Thanks for the birthday wishes Floyd. I wish I had the time to post more on the blogs but I’m busy running a company. I’m sure you can relate… or not?

Hey you’re not John Lasseter! Johnny spells all his y’s as i’s! Imposter!

That’s not really you, John. I can see your IP :)

“that’s not really you, John. I can see your IP :)”

that doesn’t really make any sense unless fred gave someone who’s not employed by him admin status on his weblog.

I swear if he had the chance, Lasseter would just go ahead and marry Miyazaki. He loves him that much. Then again, who couldn’t?

Can anyone translate any of the video? That’s the only copy I found on YouTube. The voice overs are so loud, I can’t hear hardly any of the English underneath.
