“Pogo” and Earth Day

Today, in honor of Earth Day, I thought I’d honor Walt Kelly, one-time Disney animator who created Pogo Possum in one of the most memorable and political comic strips of all time.
On I Go Pogo.com you can see the1971 Earth Day campaign that Kelly perhaps became most famous for - “We have met the enemy and he is us.”
Pogo became the first comic strip character to put environmental awareness at the forefront of its readers’ attention. Kelly himself was an ambitious underdog, having joined the Disney strike and proceeded to criticize politicians and the media alike in blatant caricatures through his comic strip.
