The Complete MAXX!

May 3rd, 2007

In the early 90’s, MTV heralded its animation corps with groundbreaking shows like “Liquid Television,” “Beavis and Butthead,” and the cult hit “The Maxx,” based on the Image comic by Sam Keith.

Here is the opening to the show, in case you forgot its premise. Linked to it is the complete 8-episode series, not available on DVD, generously uploaded onto YouTube.

What’s noteworthy about this show is how far fledgling AfterEffects artists were able to go with the new program, and how closely the show followed the original comics — not just in illustration, but in overall feel.

Enjoy!

Oh man, I loved this show.

This brings back glorious (possibly slightly rose-tinted) memories of the good old days of MTV. I would watch this, the Head and Beavis and Butthead when Cartoon Network would switch to TNT at night. I was far too young to really get these cartoons, but they were cartoons and that was enough for me!

Cartoon completists and archivists might be interested in noting Sam Kieth (spelled correctly here) was studio mate and cousin to “Cow & Chicken” creator David Feiss while we produced C&C.

the complete liquid television has also made its way onto the internets… in torrent form.

but now we need to find cartoon sushi! any ideas? :)

Heh, I was one of those that had the chance to tape the series when it was still on. Aside from both Maxx and LTV being Bit Torrented nowadays, I once made a CD’s worth of the Maxx episodes, though presented in a matter I thought worked best for the series if watched from start to finish without interruptions.

D’oh! Forgot to include my name last time!
