“Shrek the Third”

May 24th, 2007

While the Ogre Babies had initally turned me off to the film (I’ve been told that Jeffrey Katzenberg took responsibility for them at a recent company meeting) I decided to see the film this evening.

It was everything you would expect from a Shrek film. In other words, the good things the Shrek series has going for it are present, as are some of the flaws. It played more like a long episode of a sitcom than a film, but I laughed more than a few times.

If you are looking for deep plot and rich characters, keep looking. If you are a fan of computer animation and some funny dialog, this is a film for you.

With the box office that “Shrek the Third” had for opening weekend, we haven’t seen the last of Shrek, Donkey, or the rest. Shrek’s kingdom is still a fun place to visit, so this is a good thing!
