JJ Sedelamier!

June 19th, 2007

A couple months ago I had the honor to work for JJ, animation director and studio head in White Plains NY. He was the creative pencil behind most of the TV Funhouse stuff on Saturday Night Live, not to mention iconic commercials and animated sequences [like “Tek Jansen” from the Colbert Report, as seen above].

Read the interview I did with him for Animators Unite here.

Enjoy!

JJ Sedelamier is one of the bright lights in the animation business. In April 1983 my partner Alan Goodman and I reported to work at our brand new company, Fred/Alan, in the offices we shared with Buzz Potamkin and his Buzzco Productions. One of the first people we met was a perpetually happy JJ Sedelamier, assistant animator, who had come over with Buzz from his former company Perpetual Motion, a commercial house in NY. Over the next few years we worked on spots together, eventually at his new gig as Executive Producer for the R.O. Blechman’s The Ink Tank, and eventually at his own shop. There was never a day where I was thrilled to see him, and there’s never been a day where I haven’t looked forward to a conversation. He’s a one of kind person, and talented, to boot!

Hey Fred ! The feeling was (and IS) mutual! There was never a day I where I was thrilled to see you too ! You’re da bestest !! Great to see you at Platform !

And the Bar Building in White Plains is a very cool building.
