I was expecting Dan Lundquist’s short Ugly, to be, well… Ugly. But in a Fun way. I want to say Fugly, but that’s not the right term… it was, however, a really cool, fun, and entertaining short.
I love Dan’s use of animation in this. Very playful and also embodies the spirit of Animation to me.

1. How did you come up with the idea for this film?
This film came to me when pondering the question am I beautiful and if not why not and who says so.

2. Who are some of your influences?
I don’t know of any specific animator that has influenced me. The whole art of animation has been an inspiration to me more specifically traditional hand drawn animation or anything that is touches with hands outside of the computer at some point.

3. The animation for this is exactly what I feel the power of Animation can do. Much like Huey Lewis’ Power of Love song. How did you come up with this style and did it just come naturally when you were creating the short?
I am slow with trying to draw things that keep form and shape and so this sort of fluid style was easiest for me to accomplish.

4. What do you do when you get stuck creatively?
think of the weirdest thing that could happen possible and keep trying to make it more weird until it feels right.

5. What are you working on currently?
Currently I am working on a short animation called Boris. It is a story about a man who finds a way to overcome all obstacles so that he can do what he loves, drum. Every one is against him even his arms which lie on the floor uselessly not attached to his body any more how will he drum now?

I hope you weren’t looking for more wordy response I was home schooled or at least my mom tried so I don’t have much to say some times, sorry.
