Lil Kwedge is a smart @$$ Smarty Pants! Includes Zombies! Straight from the Twisted Mind of Dick Church (my new hero)!!!

1) Where did you get the inspiration for Lil Kwedge?
One day the opening exchange popped into my head as an extension of how I was feeling ‘Mother, why I am so obsessed with killing everybody? - NOT IF I KILL YOU FIRST YOU LITTLE…’ The rest wrote itself. I think there are some other themes related to a Cold War kid’s lingering fears of nuclear war. But mostly it was just silly.

2) Who are some of your influences?
Marvel comics, Mad Magazine, Warner Bros cartoons, Ren and Stimpy, Robert Crumb

3) Who does Lil Kwedge’s hair? It’s great in that Conan O’Brien sort of way.
My best guess is Lil’ Kledge does his own hair using an old brand of pomade that he can only get by traveling to the past in a time machine he invented.

4)Can you describe your process in creating Lil Kwedge from start tofinish? It was so charming in it’s Lo-Fi-ness! I’m a poet, and I did not know… it.
For the first 3-4 ‘cartoons’ I made, i drew everything on paper with Sharpee and crayons, then scanned everything in. I then imported everything into Final Cut and edited it as you would a movie. All the voices and music are original. My friend Jeff and I recorded all the audio for Lil’ Kledge in one night at his home studio. He did some voicework (the epilogue announcer for example) and helped a lot with background music. Later I began using Toon Boom. I’ve done about 10-15 cartoons total that I have on my youtube page.

5) What are you working on currently?
Currently I’m working on an animated video for this weird Daniel Johnston song called ‘Ostrich.’ After that I have some other ideas ready, including a cartoon based on comics i drew as a kid. Also, I have a pretty regularly updated blog of comics and drawings I do on MS Paint at work.
