Below, Trevor tells us more about the ‘toon, but most importantly, decides the winner in a Yeti vs. Sasquatch scenario.

Cartoon Hangover: Where did you study animation?

Drinking & Drawing Miami: Numero Dos!

April 2nd, 2010

Woo! Happy Friday, cartoon friends. Cartoon Hangover features Drinking and Drawing Miami: 2 this week - sponsored by Frederator and the Miami World Cinema Center. It’s produced by Patrick De Bokay and Spence Morin. Here, Spence gives us a little insight into how it all went down and when it’s coming up next.

The event has actually inspired a lot of venues to approach me to do D and Ds at their event, but in allegiance to Fred and the venue (the News Lounge) I’ve stayed put with it. I have been generating other riffs off of the idea such as stop-mo go which would essentially be animation of people in front of a green screen acting crazy via a live capture technique. Here’s the link to the one we did for the Borscht Film Festival, a festival I co-founded and a project that the Miami World Cinema Center funds and [Read more…]

Mighty Fudge!!!

March 26th, 2010

patrick-mallek.JPG

This weeks Cartoon Hangover joint is from Patrick and Kimberly Mallek at Mighty Fudge Studios. Because of the nature of the film, and the increasing number of children tooling around the Channel Frederator blog, I will be *ing anything that might seem… unseemly. Below is an interview with Patrick about the Schoolhouse Rock-ish “My First B*ner”

Cartoon Hangover: Where did you study animation, if at all?

Patrick Mallek: In a van down by the r*ver.

CH: What gave you the idea for “My First B*ner”?

PM: I w*ke up with it. No. Seriously.

CH: “My First B*ner” is credited to you and your w*fe, Kim - is it weird working on b*ner cartoons with your spouse or is it business as usual?

PM: Animated b*ners, crime solving str*ppers, talking gen*talia. Just another day’s work here at Mighty Fudge.

CH: Why is the Sun $%*king a cigar?

PM: I wanted him to look like a creepy pervert, but since he didn’t have legs, I [Read more…]

March 10th, 2010

dj-timbo.jpg

DJ Timbo, LA’s Animated DJ, is responsible for the down and dirty tale of a Vegas romp gone bonkers in “The Olsen Twins Song”, animated by Kelly Loftus. Here he schools me on DJ terminology and let’s us know why animated music videos are the best.

Cartoon Hangover: Who are your favorite artists (music, animation, or otherwise)?

DJ Timbo: Mick Jagger, Beck, Beastie Boys, The Doors, Royksopp, Andy Warhol.

CH: What is your favorite song?

DJ T: Bob Marley “Jammin.” A classic.

CH: It’s so silly and dirty - what gave you the idea for “The Olsen Twins Song”?

DJ T: I had a dream. A very wet dream.

LOL. Seriously though, originally it was two songs. One about the Olsen Twins and the other a Vegas themed escapade. I combined them both because everybody loves Vegas. All guys fantasize about threesomes. Put that together with twin famous billionaires, and viola!
