Animator/director Chris Conforti’s “Frog” is a Cartoon Hangover favorite, only a few hours after the episode was posted! Below, Chris tells us about screaming, eating live animals, and candy mishaps.

CH: Who are your favorite artists/animators?

CC: Tex Avery, Bill Watterson, Shannon Wheeler, Don Hertzfeldt, Nicolas Marlet, Christy Karacas, Mark Van Orman.

CH: What gave you the idea for “Frog”?

CC: Spending a summer at my parents home in Florida. It was always crazy hot and frogs were everywhere - in the pool, in the car, in the cat’s mouth.

This week Cartoon Hangover features Tim Beckhardt’s “Pellet Gunn”, a black and white salute to indie comics and the dangers of small town boredom.

CH: Where did you study animation/film?

Tim Beckhardt: The Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). I also took quite a bit of printmaking while I was there.

CH: What gave you the idea for “Pellet Gunn”?

TB: I think the central theme came from growing up in/around run-down towns with not much to do and the schemes (most destructive) you come up with to fight boredom. I had always wanted to do a film with multiple intertwined characters in one location, and the story built progressively from there.

Dave Carter, the awesome Aussie animator that brought us this week’s Cartoon Hangover ‘toon, tells us about his series “Psychotown”, his favorite drink, and his favorite diss.

Channel Frederator: What gave you the idea for “Psychotown”?

Dave Carter: I’ve always been a fan of sketch comedy and wanted to mix it with animation. It’s little problematic making it work because part of the appeal of watching Monty Python or Saturday Night Live was that you’d see John Cleese or Will Ferrell play a knight in one skit and a proctologist in the next. In animation, once you draw them in different costumes, they’re different people. It’s no longer a show but a series of short films. With Psychotown I used a shoe-box as a stage set as the ‘reoccurring element’, to bridge each episodes together.
