Topping off the Korean KO of Kuteness (didn’t you notice the recurring theme??) is Pucca! This little flashtoon starlet (created by South Korea’s Vooz and Jetix) has spawned oceans of merch and can now be seen in a regular series during the Jetix slot on Toon Disney.

We LOVE MashiMaro, the pudgy little white rabbit from CLKO Entertainment whose name derives from the Korean pronunciation of “marshmallow”. Since the debut of his Flash cartoons and the onslaught of his merchandise line began, MashiMaro’s been called Korea’s answer to Hello Kitty. I smell a Cuteness Battle brewing!

Today we take a little trek to South Korea and the happy world ofCharacter Line This licensing and merchandising house has some really sweet intended-for-mobile animations for Shaman Varim, an attractive kitty traveling the world to complete her training for the Shaman Academy.

Just got back from France and the television market called MIPCOM. Gosh, there was more cute animation there than you cute ever hope to hug in a lifetime. One of the top examples was Penelope Tete en L’air, from Nippon Animation launching as 5 min. x 26 episodes in December. Based on storybook by Anne Gutman and Georg Hallensleben, this way-cute show features Penelope, an adorable blue koala who loves to learn, play and even be mischievious from time to time.

I first saw this at Comic-Con and fell in love. Joe Moshier, a character designer for movies such as “Emperor’s New Groove”, “Home on the Range” & “Chicken Little” along with animator Chris Sonnenburg, have created a cute and down right hilarious clothing line called Conduct Happiness. I highly recommend picking one up for a young family member you might have.

I’m very excited about Twincesses, a new project in development with Tire Fire and Six Point Harness. I mean, just look at them! Twincesses will mix sweet characters with dark comedy and will no doubt turn out a wonderful result!

Anime is definitely one of the main proponents of extreme cuteness in the modern world, and that special brand of Japanese ‘toons has inspired the aptly named Genki Gang (”Genki” means “happy/energetic” in Japanese) to create a fun line of “Genki Hats” based off of popular anime and video game characters, as well as fuzzy animals and general cuteness!

Popular designs include the Moogle hat and Domokun hat. Check ‘em out!!!

If you go by the fundamental rules of cuteness- being that small, roundish, wobbly things are TOTALLY cute- eggs have got it going on. Luckily for us lovers of all things cute, the charming folks behind Korea’s net sensation I Love Egg had the good sense to add adorable costumes, sucrose-sweet songs, and hilarious antics and have come up with some very snuggle-worthy toons (and much more!)
