Best Week Ever? We Won At The Platform Awards!

July 2nd, 2007

Ever have one of those weeks where everything goes perfectly? My trip to Portland was pretty much like that. First off let’s get to the big news: Our multi-director collaborative film “The Secret Life Of Robots” won the award for Best Animated Film For the Internet!!! Here are some pics and videos of that amazing night.

Here’s co-producer Lee Rubenstein and I accepting the award, basically on behalf of the 13 other directors who made the film. Our speech was short and humble and here’s proof: I used my digital camera to capture the whole moment as it was happening.

Here we are backstage, dumbfounded by what just happened:

The trophy itself is quite outstanding. It was designed by famous British toy-designer and illustrator James Jarvis. At the after-party, I chatted with him a bit about our shared fascination with 60’s psychedelic rock bands such as The Pretty Things and the Tomorrow. He’s quite a nice chap whose imaginary “potato-headed multiverse” might soon become a cable TV show.

It was an incredible night, and it was the last of a whole week of equally exciting nights of which I’ll write about all week.

Let me be the first to congratulate you, Lee and all the contributors for this great achievement! It is extremely exciting and the fact that 15 of you could collaborate so effectively and successfully is a tribute in and of itself. As a unbiased bystander, I am extremely excited for you and very proud too.

Super cool, congrats again!

Very cool to win, and then to have the moment on tape. So what’s the next collaborative film going to be about?

that was so meta. in the best of ways.
thanks to dan and lee for letting me be a part of that nonsense.
Congats again.

Not much more to add that hasn’t already been said except “you are the Man!” It was the first annual animation platform event and therefore that much more special. Twenty years from now, after they’ve given out hundreds of awards, “Secret Life of Robots” will still be at the top.

Congratulations guys! That’s so freakin awesome!

Congratulations! That trophy looks outstanding!

This is awesome news… Dan & Lee, you guys are the shit. Thanks for asking me to take part.

What’s next?

Congratulations Dan!
