It seems like the last Fanboy & Chum Chum premiere we saw was back during the Civil War (it was really closer to the first Boer War). But the great news is Nickelodeon is now announcing the show’s second season of 26 half-hours will kick off with a big premiere week beginning April 25th. Each night that week we’ll get a pair of brand new eleven-minute episodes starting a 7:30 p.m., including that first night’s “Where the Boys Aren’t” and “I’m Manarctica.” WARNING: This season is even more insane than the first, so you’re going to want to lay off the sugar for the duration*.

Three rounds of applause to Jeff Bennett, Steve Lambe, and Eric Robles and the Fanboy cast and crew for their trio of Annie Award nominations just announced. Jeff is in the Voice Acting in a Television Production category for his work as the Necronomicon (up against Nika “Chum Chum” Futterman for her voice as Asajj Ventress in Clone Wars, go figure). Steve, of course, is up for a Character Design in a Television Production trophy. And, last but not least, the entire show is nominated for Best Animated Television Production for Children. Congratulations, everyone. The Annies will be handed out on February 5, 2011, at UCLA.

Can you believe it? A year to the week since Fanboy and Chum Chum’s big debut on Nickelodeon last November, the first season’s final four shorts are premiering this week, Monday through Thursday at 5:30 p.m. New, second-season episodes will hit the air early next year, and we’ll be posting new art like crazy as we get closer. After all, there are 52 more cartoons in store after this week.

The episodes “Sigmund the Sorcerer” and “Fanboy A’Hoy!” are debuting on Nickelodeon this Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The cartoons are part of a whole morning of Nick premieres including ones for SpongeBob, Penguins, Barnyard, and the Fairly OddParents. Sounds like a pretty good line-up to me.
