Italian Hand Gestures
Flavio is using the Italian Hand gesture of “Idea” which is just one of the many I found on this Website after researching hand gestures for the Flavio short, to get an authentic Italian acting performance.
Everyone knows about Italians and their animated use of hands when they speak. An old joke tells of the best way to stop an Italian from talking is to tie his hands together. I know it’s true for me.
I found a few really interesting articles on Italian hand gestures. Here’s an excerpt from one of the articles:
After telling the press he was an expert in hand gestures, President
George Bush senior, gave the “V-for Victory” sign as he drove in his
limousine past demonstrators in Canberra, Australia’s capital in
January 1992. In Australia, holding up two fingers to from a “v” has
the same vulgar meaning as the middle-finger gesture in the United
States. The Aussie demonstrators were enraged, and they signaled in the
same manner back at the U.S. President. President bush later had to apologize for his faux pas.
How important is it to understand good hand signals huh?

I think its a really smart idea…beacuse when kids watch cartoons they focuse alot on the character’s movementes. Also it will give Flavio a lot more energy and personality. It will be GREAT!!.
Keep up the good work!
