Flavio Board with Added thumbnails
I’ve been going over my board adding thumbnail poses where I think there aren’t enough poses to match the dialog.
this is an original board page.
And this is with the added thumbnails.
It helps me tremendously to add poses where needed after I have finished the first pass because then I can look at it with a fresh eye and tweak and change to what I want. In this case when I started storybarding this cartoon I hadn’t really nailed Flavio’s design and so he changed a bit throughout the board. By the end I was pretty sure I had what I wanted and so I had to go back to the beginning and redraw some panels to get Flavio and Bossman to be “on model”
After this we can start the background process!

Mike, thats not entirely true lol. As you might not know, I do freelance animation for the character designer Dahveed who worked on teapot for Random!. While i was sleeping he called lol. Kinda ironic lol.. ithink. -Steve

Very nice. The added poses are very helpful to see what you are going for. You’re making it oh so easy for the animators with these boards!

Thanks Floyd!Yeah that’s actually my goal… of course that could always backfire on me if screw up and they take everything too literally. If I could I would key-animate the whole thing like I did on my first two shorts. It takes too long I guess, and I know it would cost too much so that’s out. I figure if I add so many poses as possible on the board I will get what I want.
