So one of the reasons my posts have been a bit sparse this month is that I’m hard at work on a new animated project called “The Academy”, written by Michael Tabb.

On Valentine’s Day, we went to California Digital Post Sound and recorded the first set of actors for the pilot.

Michelle Paige did an awesome job with the female voices from the short. She nailed every line and went above and beyond, bringing a ton of character to everything she did. There are a lot of cool nuances in her voice that will give the animators a lot to work with.

Stephen Root blew everyone away with his portrayal of a rural sheriff. Stephen has done a lot of character work, both animated and live action, but you may know him best for his role as Milton in the movie “Office Space”.

I risked being outed as a fan boy when I asked for an autograph on my “Office Space” DVD that I just happened to have with me.

Brian Posehn was the perfect fit for an oddball farmer. He’s got a distinct look, but you might remember his voice from another recent animated project.

It was a thrill to get to work with these talented actors. I’m looking forward to animating them.

There was one more actor we recorded that day, but we can’t yet say who he or she is. They’re the main character of our piece, and you’ll see much more about their involvement (and this project) in the coming months.
