Before Mark Newgarden invented the Garbage Pail Kids
he was a funny artist who collected anything that would give him a cheap laff.
Then he got smart and started drawing and publishing his own laffs. Which are being collected in his first retrospective book We All Die Alone (out in January, but available at a number of discriminating comic book shops).
I was lucky enough to work with Mark in the early 90s when he was the head writer for the performance art troop The Poster Boys in New York. He’s an amazing presence, and his collaborators are always lucky to work with him.

jeaux, 1) My production company at the time, was trying to get a project going with The Poster Boys. Nothing happened, but I did finally make a cartoon short with them at Hanna-Barbera: Zoonatics, directed by Joey Ahlbum. 2) We’re waiting to hear back from Nickelodeon on the new OY! name choice.

Mark is one of the coolest guys I know. Funny, talented and smart. He was key part of my ill-fated Nick Movies project, THE STINKY CHEESE MAN back in 1996. Lane Smith, Mark Newgarden and Teddy Newton (Pixar) were my team… I can only hope Mark is considering pitching you a cartoon short.

Possably the most “Awesome Possum” guy who ever lived. I LOVED his fantastic flash series, “B. Happy”.
