BUILDING DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT BRANDS: HOW TO PROFIT IN THE MULTI-PLATFORM UNIVERSE

A Conversation With Fred Seibert, President & Executive Producer, Frederator Studios

Dave Smith in the house.

Dave Smith

The very talented artist/writer Dave Smith was at Frederator/Burbank last week, introducing himself and his work to Eric and me. Funny enough, we’d never met, even though we were like ships passing in the night on many of the same projects, and it took my Adventure Time co-executive producer Derek Drymon to introduce us. Thanks Derek; it was great meeting you Dave.

Thanks to Dave for his kind permission to post some of his artwork.

Dan Yaccarino & Andy Rash
Illustrators/writers Dan Yaccarino and Andy Rash came by Frederator/NY to talk with Carrie and me about some new television and movie projects they’re working on. I’ve known and admired Dan for quite a while now but I was meeting Andy (and seeing his work) for the first time. It won’t be the last.

Thanks for Andy for kind permission to post his art.

Fun with Channel Frederator.

Channel Frederator

David Karp always liked getting the Frederator postcards and so when he imagined Channel Frederator he incorporated one of them into our very first episode.

Channel Frederator

Over the years the cards were designed by a number of talented folks like Lee Rubenstein and Matthias Sundberg and every once in a while I threw a few in.

Channel Frederator

For no particular reason, a couple of weeks ago I was flipping through some public domain images and started playing around. Before I knew it Ch.Fred had 20 more “postcards.”

Comedians/writers Barry Rothbart and Dan St. Germain stopped by Frederator/NY to tell us about their cartoon “Jake the Snake.” Though Barry worked with my NNN colleagues at Barely Political and is friends with Nite Fite animator Adam Rosette, we’d never met, so it was great to catch up.

Thanks to Barry and Dan for kind permission to post an image from their cartoon.

Eric pointed out that we’ve got a jammed packed weekend of Frederator related TV events on Nickelodeon’s networks this weekend.

The Wubb Girlz

Friday kicks off at 1pm ET on Nick Jr. (and 7pm Sunday on Noggin) with the premiere of Wubb Idol, guest starring BeyoncĂ© (yeah, who woulda thought?), the first original movie for Bob Boyle’s Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!

Wishology Weekend Poster

And Friday night, 8pm, the beginning of the Wishology event for Butch Hartman’s The Fairly Oddparents.

And that’s not all. Tomorrow at 3pm you also get (big sob, bigger tears) the absolute end of Rob Renzetti’s My Life as a Teenage Robot.

So give us some love this weekend. You’ll be glad you did.
