Christmastime for Jews.

December 24th, 2009

Having been raised as a Presbyterian it’s occasionally surreal when I realize I’m the only Gentile in my immediate household. But, not nearly as surreal as this Robert Smigel claymational nod to the season.

Merry Christmas!

Joyeux Noel from David Cowles.

December 24th, 2009

My favorite holiday card this year, from artist/director David Cowles.  (Not only does it pay homage to my favorite Beatles album, but this year my sons have gone Beatles crazy from Rock band. Perfect timing.)

Thanks David! Merry to you too.

PS: Check it: David also designed and directed this commercial –my fave this year– for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.

Mike Johnson in the house.

Mike Johnson

You might know Michael Johnson from some of his work at Indy Mogul; I love his collaborations with Justin Johnson (famous in his own right for his tumblr engagement and Channel Frederator) on Sometimes Funny. He was at Frederator/NY yesterday with some awesome ideas for animated features. Thanks Mike.

A Christmas Story - “Payback for the Fat Man”

December 14th, 2009

Our friend Fred Stroppel is the head writer and story editor for our production of Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! But, in his real life, he’s a playwrite and screenwriter.

Here’s his take on another side of Christmas. (And, you can see some of his other Suburban Legends short films here.)

Happy Hanukkah!

FOF Lisa Illowsky sent my family this great gift. We’re lucky enough to celebrate two holidays this time of year, and it’s always great to share them with all of you.

Thanks Lisa!

An honor to be with John.

John R. Dilworth @SVA

John R. Dilworth @SVA

It was an honor to spend some time at “ASIFA-East presents An Evening with John Dilworth“. Even more of an honor to be one of the guest speaker, recounting the events leading up to the making of the original short “Courage the Cowardly Dog in The Chicken from Outer Space,” John’s Academy Award nominated film from our Hanna-Barbera incubator “What A Cartoon!

John has been one of the most significant talents we’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.

I’m sure Michael Sporn, John’s first employer, will have a lot more to say about the evening; he sure was shooting enough pix.
