Please note above the Network suggested revision.
Here I thought my storyboard was perfect and along come more notes. Lucky for me they were good notes and I made some changes.
But the mere suggestion that my work isn’t perfect????………..

Do you have the “before” version of the board for comparison? I’m curious as to what it looked like before the notes?

This was actually an addition to the board from a network note. And so…..Onward to Glory!!!!!!!!

Besides the obvious stuff like nudity, and blood soaked violence, what other sorts of content is the network likely to object to?

Interesting question. Lately we’ve been finding that anything involving a character eating copious ammounts of sugary foods is a red flag for the network (encourages childhood obesity.) But–but–no one could really eat a three story chocolate sunday, you say… Also, anything involving religious icons (devils or angels) is a no no. But chainsaw tag seems fine for now! (stay tuned.)

I’d like to leave a note about network notes.
There are essentially two types of comments, and they’re sometimes confused with each other: standards & practices (S&P) and, the more common creative notes.
S&P are pretty simple, but often perplexing. Having foul language, or inappropriate situations, that type of thing, are the against the “standards” that Nickelodeon lives by. However, these are not hard and fast rules, just one department’s interpretation of the fuzzy lines that have developed over the years. For instance, for decades farts were not deemed acceptable in children’s programming. Then came Ren & Stimpy. R&S led to a epidemic of farts, which led the network to set a “practice” of limiting the amount of farts in a show. It wasn’t an edict, or a specific amount, but, it let everyone know that someone was watching them, and please, slow down.
“Creative” notes are the opinion of the “network” (often an executive or executives assigned to oversee the show). The opinion can be about everything from plot points, to dialog, to casting, to art direction, and more. Fights can ensue. Feelings can be hurt. Shows can be made better. Or worse. It depends. On the creator, on the executive, on the weather. Usually, not always, everyone in the room respects each other’s role, and a copasetic conclusion can be reached.
The reality about notes is that truly, who knows? But hopefully, at the end of the day, everyone, particularly the audience, can be happy with the results.
