Peg-Leg Orphanage Press!!!
“Glad to see another GPK fan infecting the virus ever onward.”-Mark Newgarden, Garbage Pail Kids Creator
Meet Markied-Mark. Yet another Mutant Pirate Baby looking for a good home.
Peg-Leg Orphanage made the Las Vegas City Life’s City Pick.
“Remember Garbage Pail Kids? Those politically incorrect, hideously deformed whelps dripping with snot and crawling from sewers? They typified everything that made the ’80s great, especially the fascination with twisted innocence that gripped the national psyche in the post-Vietnam era of AIDS, crack and punk rock. They weren’t even that funny, but with names like Arlene Latrine and Didi T., they were sort of brilliant and formed an archetype.
At the moment, the national psyche is, for whatever reason, gripped with black pearl-mongering pirates. It won’t last, but appropriate to this moment, the Funkhouse is hosting Peg-Leg Orphanage, a nursery in paint crawling with the cute bastard children of those other cute bastard children, all bug-eyed and waiting for adoption. Artist Jeaux Janovsky of the Double Date Collective has created a pack of puling “mutant pirate babies” for whom he must now find homes. While that may be his problem, we thought we’d remind you that orphans make great gifts.
For instance, if your relationship is in bad shape, but not bad enough to require a puppy or a human baby, may we suggest a cartoon infant with an eyepatch. Each comes with its own certificate of arr-doption. B.B.”
Special Thanks goes out to LV City-Life’s Beverly Bryan for covering the PLO show.
PLO has been received very well from both audiences and critics alike. I’ve received a wide variety of comments ranging from comparisions and homages to the Garbage Pail Kids, to one fan’s comment on the Topps message board posting that PLO is the new GPK. This has all gotten me to thinking… I have bigger plans for these Orphan Pirates. Stay Tuned.
“I really like the art– great cartoony stuff, nice sense of
humor and style!”-John Pound, Garbage Pail Kids Main Artist

GPK 4 life! Wow this is really strange! Just last weekend my niece was showing me some of the new GPK that are out. So I had to dig deep in my closet and school her with some OG GPK. Looking at them after so many years took me back on how cool these things were. Keep the dream alive is all I’m saying.

“…we thought we’d remind you that orphans make great gifts. “
All I ask is that you respect the “Real” orphans out there and be kind!
Just be nice when you comment.
A comment like this can either, cause a ruckus so grand that you are on the front page of the USA Today for severe negative press, or cause so much press coverage that you are paying through the nose for bandwidth charges!!
Jeff a Father to 2 real orphans!

No Problem Jeff S. I mean no disrespect to orphans everywhere!
That was an article written by someone who works for the Las Vegas City-Life.

Search “Newgarden” in our blog search box and you’ll find my post on Mark’s great, overdue, anthology of his comic work. And he’s got a funny animated piece on the “God Hates Cartoons” DVD. Mark and I met when we worked together with The Poster Boys, a New York comedy group when he was the head writer.

Wow Fred… Who haven’t you worked with? Mark’s a pretty approachable, affable, clever and funny guy. I’ll check out that post and his book! That’s pretty cool you collaborated with him, and vice versa.

Well, we *tried* to collaborate; nothing really came of it. I admire Mark’s sensibility, but I could never really figure out how our lines intersected.

Thanks to everyone for the support and comments! I, along with the Pirate Babies appreciate it!
