Meet Ken Bruce

Director Ken Bruce

What does Fairly OddParents director Ken Bruce think about the current Iranian election turmoil or petting on the first date? I don’t know, but in this interview, we do find out a bit about his history with FOP and what he’s been doing for a prominent CG studio up north.

Frederator: Where did you grow up?

Ken: I grew up on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. I wish someone would’ve smacked me upside the head when I was a kid and told me to never take the view of the Pacific Ocean outside my bedroom window for granted. Our home also looked out over Marineland of the Pacific, a tourist mecca since 1955, where I worked selling stuffed killer whales during high school. Alas, the home of Orky and Corky is now a real estate development.

Kitt Katswell and Dudley, AKA Agent Puppy

Butch has been good enough to send along these images of the stars of his seventy-second Nickelodeon series, T.U.F.F. PUPPY. That’s Kitty Katswell beside Dudley, AKA Agent Puppy. Look for the show to premiere on Nick sometime next year.

Show Time!

Well, well, well. It seems Mr Butch Hartman has gotten yet another show on Nickelodeon. Just when we’re on the verge of the network being re-branded Dreamworks, Jr™ , T.U.F.F. Puppy (Hartman series #3) comes along and puts Butchelodeon© back in the running as a serious contender for a new name for Nick. Butch originally pitched this project during the Eisenhower administration, so it’s nice to see something finally materialize (in this case, twenty-six eleven-minute cartoons).

I asked Mr Hartman if I could blog some T.U.F.F. Puppy art, and he scoffed, “Absolutely not.” Turns out he’ll unleash some images on his own site later this week. It looks we’ll see the (non-Frederator!) show itself sometime in 2010.

Congratulations, Butch, and to your cast and crew, too.
