Can you believe it’s been ten years to the day since The Fairly OddParents premiered on Nickelodeon? Me, neither. Now, that’s not including the handful of FOP shorts made for the earlier Oh Yeah! anthology. But it was Friday night, March 30, 2001, when Nickelodeon debuted the series with “The Big Problem!” That was a decade ago, and Butch Hartman is still working on Fairly OddParents cartoons and live-action specials (among many other non-FOP projects, that busy guy). Who knows what the future holds in store for the series, but for 2011 at least, the network has a few FOP events up its sleeve. So congratulations to Butch and everyone who’s contributed to the show over the years, way back since the property’s inception in 1997 or so (and we can only imagine how many hundreds of folks that is).

“Planet Poof” Storyboard

Man, if I got paid solely for congratulating Dave Thomas on his animation awards and nominations I’d be a rich man. In fact, I’d be getting another paycheck right now, this time for blogging another job-well-done to Dave for his new Annie Award nomination in the Storyboarding in a Television Production category. Dave’s Fairly OddParents board of the episode “Planet Poof” is a good one, and can be seen in full above. The Annies will be held February 5th at UCLA. Best of luck, Dave.
