Mr. Kelly’s Carwash!!

Don’t remember that one? What was it?

Mr. Kelly’s Carwash was the coolest…it was a miniature, working carwash…it had a battery-powered chain that pulled little plastic cars through the carwash, past foam rollers and a spray nozzle. Santa Claus brought it to me, which, hmm, now that I think of it, could explain why you haven’t heard of it…..maybe the elves made it just for me!!

Oh man I LOVED Major Matt Mason when I was a kid. I had them all. I also had the Colorforms Aliens that went with them. Colossus Rex the Man from Jupiter and The Martian guy. http://www.x-entertainment.com/articles/0727/I had Stretch Armstrong too. I learned that hitting your brother on the head with him will get you in trouble. Fort Apache was great too! I also had a castle version fo Fort Apache too. Great stuff! Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

The one toy I coveted but never got was those damn Power Wheels cars. I wanted one soooo bad…but once I grew up and saw how much WalMart charges for one, I understood why my parents had deprived me so.

I used to love CREEPY CRAWLERS, BIONIC MAN and Star Wars but my all time favorite toys we the MEGO SUPERHERO dolls. BATMAN and ROBIN, CAPTAIN AMERICA and SPIDEY, SUPERMAN and IRON MAN! Those were the best! and only$2.99 each!

Yeah the Mego Action figures were cool too! My fave was The Hulk and Thor. How about Big Jim? Or Action Jackson? All cool toys!

Perhaps I was a total art school snob in the making, but my favorite toys were the ones I could participate heavily in the creation of. My brother and I made an entire city, store items and population out of tinkertoys and colored modeling clay. We called it “Moon Goon Land”, although to this day, I have no idea why, because most of the residents were either animals (mine) or Picasso-worthy abstract art (brother’s) and nobody was from outer space. I don’t remember ever wanting a “popular toy” lol. Although I remember that my brother and I did play board games a lot.

Okay I thought of something I had that was popular at the time. It was…Merlin! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merlin_(game)

Hell yes I remember MERLIN. IT was like a red phone shaped thing with TIC TAC TOE in the middle. I still remember how the little plastic covered buttons felt when you pressed them and they lit up.
Wow! That really takes me back….

Yeah I loved Merlin too1 Oh what about that Mattel Football video game?

Oh jeez MERLIN! My parents had one of those in the hall closet from early memory on, but it was broken so I could never figure out what the hell it was supposed to be/do.

I had that Mattel Football game. I never did read the instructions so I’m sure I never played it correctly but it sure was fun getting my little red dash to run across screen in between the other red dashes. Hey wait a second! That game actually sucked! Why did I like that when I was a kid?
