So here we see Elmer Fudd trying to figure out who else jumped into that snow bank. I suppose it’s not much of a trick to leave an nicely silhouetted outline of yourself while ploping into snow, but cartoon characters are always passing through wooden doors, brick walls and plate glass with the same effect. I’ve even seen them dive into placid bodies of water and achieve similar results. Makes ya stop and think.

Second picture has a certain pugnacious sailor about to deliver the infamous ‘twisker punch’ (the puncher twists his forearm counterclockwise many times to to produce a twirling effect on the punchee at the moment of impact.) Okay, nobody actually ever pulled this stunt except Popeye, but he did it ALL the time. As a kid, I couldn’t help wonder if this wouldn’t be a lot more painful to Popeye than his opponent.
