As some of you know, I started my career as a record producer, so one of my first areas of passion in cartoons has always been the scoring. It took me about 20 seconds to realize how little I knew, and that music and scores are not at all the same thing. A large part of my early education came from the man who consulted with many of our filmmakers on their first-time shorts (and with first-time scoring composers too), Bodie Chandler. I'll do an individual post on Bodie sometime soon, but I wanted to give him his shout out.

Yeah Bodie rocks. This is the third short he has helped me with and each time I tried (unsuccessfully) to emote what I wanted to the composer, Bodie would step in and translate my words into "Musicanian" and suddenly the composer would smile and get it! It's a beautiful thing! Thanks Bodie!
