‘Record Store Day’ Score
So, what did you buy on Record Store Day this past Saturday? If you had as refined tastes as I, you’d be pleased with a few snares, most of all with this copy of Baroque n’ Stones by a group of studio musicians named the New Renaissance Society. Here are a few reasons why it goes in the hey-this-is-pretty-cool column:
Released in 1966, this is one of the earliest, if not the earliest, tribute albums to the Rolling Stones (the Rolling Stones was/is a rock and roll group from 2,000 light years ago; the band’s erstwhile bass player is now of the age where Taylor Swift could be his great-granddaughter and/or fourth wife). The liner notes claim the combination “of the Baroque form and the Rolling Stones songs is really a very logical development.” Well, I don’t know.
