After patiently stalking–err–waiting outside of Pen Ward’s office for a few days, I was finally able to snap a pic of him just seconds after he put the finishing touches on his Ice Clops. He’s very happy.

For those of you unfamiliar with Pen, he was shipped to Oh Yeah! fresh from Cal Arts, and rumor has it, “Adventure Time” was created somewhere on the white sandy dunes of a beach in Hawaii. Urban legend or fact? Only the Rainicorn knows…

“Flyguy” Makes An Appearance

The pitches keep adding up over here. I’d say right now I get about 5-6 calls a day with new people wanting to schedule, as well as people who have already pitched wanting to re-pitch.

Today Edward Webb came in all the way from the Fresno area to pitch us his short, Flyguy.Along with being incredibly prepared and knowledgable about what we’ve been up to here, he provided a unique take on the classic superhero story which I thought was great.

“Did You Fart On My Baby?”

If I could take one catch phrase from John Kricfalusi’s pitch yesterday, that would be it. You can see the clip of this on Fred’s blog. Here is another image from Wally Man, a show John pitched us yesterday.

Fifteen years ago, I was sporting zits and braces, watching Ren & Stimpy on my dad’s couch on Friday night. Up until then, I liked cartoons well enough, but most of them didn’t really resonate with me or my sense of humor. R&S changed all of that. John K. brought an entirely new spin to the classic cartoon format that was miraculously both fresh and rotten at the same time. His unique style and voice were ultimately what attracted me to animation.

If you had told me fifteen years ago I would have the privilege to hear him pitch, I would have choked on my retainer.

Thanks to John Kricfalusi for letting us post this image.
