SEE THE ORIGINAL 1983 FINSTER FINSTER “STORE WARS!”
Hey Random Cartoon Kadets!
My buddy Steve Moore, whom I attended Cal Arts with, way back in the early 80’s, has posted the original 1983 “STORE WARS” pencil test on his animation site!
WOW! It was a surprise to me.
This 5 minute pencil test stars the original Finster brothers, Mrs. Finster and the chickens. (Which originally had no heads! They were fresh from the freezer case!)
I also used no music at all! I hired someone in the music dept to do the laser s/fx for me.
Backgrounds are minimal to none.
This “STORE WARS” version didn’t deal too much with story. The newest Frederator version takes care of that. I wanted pure action!!!
Anyway; here’s the link to Steve Moore’s site.
He’s a great guy and a wonderful animator. Check his stuff out!
Have fun!!!
Turn up the sound!!

Awesome Jeffy! I just watched it and it’s really cool! I love watching pencil tests. They seem in general to have a life that finished animation does not (at least in my opinion) Anyway, thanks for sharing that with us!

That was cool. As an artist and animator, it must be very cool to revisit a project like that. It’s almost like an animator’s equivalent to Scrooge or Groundhog’s Day… you’ve got a chance to go back and do things again. I’m looking forward to your short now more than I was before.

hey Mike and Floyd!
I’m glad you like the original version of Store Wars!
Yeah; it was a real trip going back in time to do it ahain in a real live studio. Man; what a great experience!
Take care and I wish you guys continued success and fun!!!!
