Fox Season Premiere Sunday
This Sunday Sept. 10th 8/7c Fox is premiering a slew of shows. The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, and The War at Home. Three of them being animated.
The thing I noticed was that all the shows have to do with “Nuclear” family units. Do families still sit down on sunday night to watch the television together?, or is that a figment of the past?

Well we don’t watch any of these shows. I won’t let my kids watch the first three. Way too smutty. It’s funny but the Simpsons is the tamer of them when once it raised eyebrows. Interesting. Never heard of the last one.
We do watch TV together however, but more shows like Discovery Channel and National Geographic Explorer. Family stuff.

My sister and I were the only kids on the block allowed to watch “The Simpsons,” much to the chagrin of other parents. The funny thing was, we used to watch it together as a family.
It used to be a really intelligent show and now it seems to rely a lot on vague pop culture refrences. Then again, I have friends who work on it, so–for their sakes–I hope it’s around for a while.

Is the simpsons movie going to be done on cell or digitally inked?

I think it’s been digitally inked for years now.

you sure? I asked a guy named Frank Forte who works on it and he said the series is done on cels

Maybe I’m wrong but I’ve been to the Rough Draft studio in Korea that animates the show and the stuff we were doing was digital. Seems odd to still be doing cels so long after the fact.

Oh yea, cartoons are done digitally. Its just the simpsons ive heard is like the only show still done on cells. Youre right tho, your short and all the others are inked digitally.

My family did used to have Sunday night “Family TV Night”. Our television education consisted of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Beta/VHS episodes of The Twilight Zone.
Both were examples of fabulous storytelling.
If/when I have kids, I’m going to do the same, most likely with The Simpsons. I can’t think of another Sunday night show that wields such tight storytelling these days. Though I’m open to listening.
Oh, and we’ll watch MythBusters marathons.
