Whilst cleaning out some of my computer folders, I stumbled upon these very early drawings I had done of Yaki and Yumi. Nickelodeon at one point announced that they were looking for 30 second interstitials where they could introduce new characters…I came up with this concept, but soon after I finished it, it was announced that they had canned 30 second intersitial idea. The great thing about it for me, was that I got to see if I could come up with a way to communicate my new characters in a very limited amount of time. Yaki and Yumi have definately come a long way since then!

Wow ALiki these are pretty good! I like the new character version MUCH better! But Yaki looks pretty much the same. Yumi’s the one who looks like she changed. Keep up the good work!ps.. did Korea get the note about the hands? lol Take care!

Aliki,
it is so awesome to see how much they have changed through their lives…I can’t wait to watch them, and see how much they have grown! Great work!

Aww.. haha i wish they didn’t can the idea, because this is awesome!!

Caroline, I agree with you - it’s a very funny scenario and clever way of depicting the characters.

lol good stuff ~

I love the pipe cleaner spinal cord thingie protruding from Yaki’s neck! Can’t wait to see the finished product!!

I agree that the physical development of the characters have improved, but this icecream cone head idea (the way that cone is stuck in his mouth and his expression, etc) is very clever and very funny nonetheless.

aliki i am so excited to be included in the yaki and yumi experience! i am so proud of you! YOU INSPIRE ME!

I think it is so cool that I typed Yaki and Yumi in the google search and your name popped up right away. I am so excited for you and I love the work you are creating. Keep it up!
