Greetings Yaki and Yumi fans!
So, when I was a kid I used to stay in the ocean as long as I could stand it, and swim with my legs squished together… hoping and praying that they would turn into a mermaid tail and I could swim away! My wish came true today, except I am at an animation studio instead of the deep blue sea…ah well, at least I finally have that tail, just in time for halloween!!

These avid “Dance Dance Celebrationists” threaten Yumi’s chance of winning! Will her chanting and yoga-ic moves be enough to beat her opponents? Or will a certain bat try to defeat her?? Stay tooned!!!

Yaki and Yumi were so jealous that the Girls On the GO! characters had their mouth charts posted, so I thought I would go ahead and post theirs too. Jun Falkenstein, the director was the mastermind behind these fun mouth shapes.

Okay..so this sticker was thrown together late last night, in the hopes of doing some promoting at Comicon, since I cannot be there this year. I have no idea how to build sites, but Jun, Yaki and Yumi’s esteemed director, was nice enough to load some stuff up so that people can at least find their way to the blog. Thank you Jun, and thank you Stickerguy.com!

The title cards are completed, and they look great! I did the drawing, and my very talented friend, Aman Chaudhary did the geinius coloring job. You can check out more of Aman’s work at www.redmask.com or read his blog at www.aman-about-town.com.

For those who do not know, a title card is the first thing your audience will see before your show starts. This is where the main credits will also run. In our case, they will read “created and storyboarded by, Aliki Theofilopoulos, then, directed by, Jun Falkenstein” At the end of the show, there will be a “The End” card as well.

Lastly, I need to say something about how amazing the music is for Yaki and Yumi! We sat down with our composer, Shawn Patterson on Friday and watched the scored show, and it was absolutely phenomenal!! He RAWKS!

He RAWKS!

Today I went to an amazing art experience called “Ashes and Snow” which is in Santa Monica right now ( at the “nomadic museum” right by the pier). The photographs, and films were increadible. The show reminded me that every frame of every picture we create is all about relationships. It is our duty as creators to keep this in mind…that each character, (even if they are enemies) should be connected. The same goes for background elements and objects. They all have a relationship.
An important mentor of mine, Walt Stanchfield ( an old Disney animator from the days of Sleeping Beauty) used to say, that even if I do a drawing or composition with three different characters, it should feel like they are all connected..and to always keep relationships of people and things in mind. People like to connect..and when your characters are connected, your audience will too feel connected to them.
Check out Gregory Colbert’s work at www.ashesandsnow.org But head out to Santa Monica and see it in person!

I also went to the show Eric Homan mentions in his blog (at Wacko in Silverlake), and it was awesome! Next I would like to check out the comic book art show at MOCA and the Armand Hammer. Who’s coming? FIELD TRIP!
